Feeling a little anxious? Or overwhelmed?
I understand. Photography sessions aren’t always the Pinterest perfect situations they appear to be. Maybe work is crazy right now and you’re stressed, the kids got into the markers before the session and drew on their faces (been there with my daughter!), or your spouse hates photo sessions... no matter, you have a narrow window to get your session done and now you’re worried the weather will be bad or something else will pop up. Then slowly but surely, those nerves morph into an evil little ball of negative energy.
- Take a breath -
There is no reason to be nervous for anything that is outside of your control. Don’t let that stress into your session, because I’m telling you, you DON’T want it in your photos. De-stressing before your session is entirely possible with a little preparation and I’ll show you how.
Remember why you’re doing this
Whether it’s a milestone move, a baby bump that’s quickly growing, a birthday, or you take family photos every year... there is something significant happening in your life that you want to document. Don’t forget to enjoy this moment. I’ve heard so many of your stories and watched you overcome big changes. As far as your images are concerned, I’m ready to be your biggest supporter! Relax and know I’ve got this. 100%.
Have faith in your photographer
Trust me, I’ve seen it all (well, mostly 🤪). There’s no judgment if you’ve got a moody toddler or husband, you spilled something and had to change last minute, you’re running a few minutes late, or someone just won’t smile. I promise you I’ll remain calm and be your biggest cheerleader! Don’t worry about it being Pinterest perfect - it’s rare to have a session that has no issues at all (especially with young children). Just be yourself and show your spouse / family / yourself some love and grace. It will go a lot farther than getting upset. If you’re still feeling anxious, it might be time to step back and look at the big picture. We all need some reassurance sometimes. Go back through my work to visualize all the things I can do. I think you’ll find yourself getting more excited and less freaked out!
Be flexible & know there is always a plan
I pick locations for my sessions based on very specific factors, such as the direction and quality of light during certain times of day. At the end of the day I owe you consistency and there is a tried and true method for all of it. We all know Texas weather can get crazy at the drop of a hat... We may need to pick another day, another location, or both. I need my clients to trust that any changes are made for a reason and it will be for the benefit of your session!
